PAST TELL

“I don’t have the traditional false modesty a celebrity’s supposed to have.  I can’t lie to anybody about the way I feel about myself; I’m too dope. I’m super-dope.”

For all we know, Kanye West could be locked up in a room right now, with nothing but a sketchbook in hand.  The highly aspirational clothing designer has dedicated five months to focus on designing his own fashion line, Past Tell – a reference to the life lessons we learn.  Although, I wouldn’t call it much of a line.  Thus far, Mr. West has only created four pieces – three articles of clothing and a belt.  It might not be much, but would you rush him?

Sure, it’s tough to even start to believe in his fashion aesthetic, but let’s try and give him the benefit of the doubt.  While we all know he can be a bit of a hot head, West makes an interesting point – “People say too much of anything is terrible. I don’t believe that, if you’re providing that service for the world. Do you think Michael Jordan or Kobe plays too much basketball if he wins the championship? Do I make too much music?”  Oh, Kanye, you’re too kind – expanding your range of ‘services’ to the world.

“Women move from brand to brand depending on who has done a particular trend.  Men go into a store and they will spend more money because they’ll buy for the whole season. They don’t look at shopping as a recreation the way women do.” – Tom Ford

New York Mag’s, The Cut claims that menswear sales have gone up 1 percent.  Unlike womenswear, which has seen a 6 percent fall in sales, men continue to indulge without much change.

PUMP UP THE JAM!

Jams

These sweet kicks are probably the coolest sneaker I’ve seen since the first Air Jordans.  I usually go for the loafers, but these are just too good to pass.  These Jams by Converse sneakers have color combinations that take me back to the 80′s.  It’s true, they’re back!

SMART MOVE

Topman LONDON TO NYC

Topshop may have a lot to make up for expense-wise, but it’s designs like these that set the British clothing brand apart from other major retailers.  A perfect way to represent the monumental move from London to NYC.  As the folks at Topshop put it, this tee is “slightly darker than the familiar ‘I HEART NY’ tees.”
